Handel’s Handmade Ice Cream Rebrand

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream partnered with Push to refresh its brand for national growth while staying true to the handmade quality and nostalgia that made the brand successful for generations. As franchise expansion accelerated, Handel’s needed a more unified identity and customer experience that could scale across new markets without losing its personality and loyal following.

Using its Brand Convergence Model, Push Filters, and Push Mapping exercises, Push helped sharpen the brand story around craftsmanship, indulgence, and community. The rebrand touched everything from visual identity and packaging to in-store messaging and digital marketing, creating a more consistent experience across every touchpoint.

Since the rebrand, Handel’s has continued expanding its footprint while building stronger customer engagement and brand recognition in both existing and new markets. The updated brand system has helped strengthen franchise marketing, improve consistency, and position Handel’s for long-term growth in the premium ice cream space.

“Rebranding a company as loved as Handel’s is a delicate balance. You have to make the brand feel fresh and ready for a new era without losing the authenticity and personality people already connect with. Just because a brand has history doesn’t mean it can’t have fun. It’s the subtle moments throughout the experience that make people smile, feel something, and recognize that the brand is still staying true to itself.” — Mark Unger, Push Partner & Chief Creative Officer
